Purpose

"To prepare all students to be college/career ready, while focusing on the whole student"
 ~LISD district goal

This guide is to provide parents, students and teachers information about the opportunities and resources available to help meet this important goal.

    How to Use This Guide

The framework for this guide is derived from the recommendations made by David T. Conley in his book College and Career Ready: Helping All Students Succeed Beyond High School, identified in the box on the left of this page.

The book presents a "four-dimension model that serves as the basis for determining how prepared students are for college and careers." These four keys are:

    • Key Cognitive Strategies
    • Key Content Knowledge
    • Academic Behaviors
    • Contextual and Awareness Skills

Under the Home tab are guides for each of the four dimensions with information and resources about each.  Additionally, there are tabs for AP, IB, College Planning to help families begin the college planning process, Teacher, and a Testing tab which provides information on readistep, PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
